Halloween is one of the scariest times of year for teeth, but moderation might just be their best friend. As a result of trick-or-treating and spooky parties, many children (and adults) indulge in candy more often than usual in October. In this playlist, you’ll see a collection of videos on how to make Halloween treats that are not so scary for your smile.
Try recipes like Frankenguac, a fun but healthy guacamole dish assembled to look like Frankenstein, witch’s brooms, pretzels and string cheese made to look like brooms, monster teeth, scary sets of teeth made out of apples, peanut butter, and yogurt covered raisins, and finally, strawberry ghosts, which are strawberries dipped in white chocolate and decorated with chocolate chips to appear like a ghost. Alongside the recipes, try to limit the amount of sugar you consume, especially candies that stick to your teeth, and trade them for options healthier for your teeth, like pumpkins and their seeds, apples, cranberries, sweet potatoes, chili, cinnamon, and other nutritious foods fit for the festive activities of fall.
For more healthy yet festive recipes, look at our videos here and here. Use the first resource to learn how you can have yummy pumpkin seeds as a snack by tossing them in oil and salt and baking them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for forty five minutes. The second resource can be used to learn how to make grape cups in cups that can be decorated to look like Frankenstein, owl rice cakes with healthy add ons like apples, bananas, and blueberries as features, and orange cuties with fruit cups that can be drawn on to resemble jack-o-lanterns.
Learn to make good choices about the food you consume and make sure the candy you eat during Halloween is consumed in moderation. Have a happy, healthy Halloween!
