Inside Every Tooth: Dental Worksheet

My friend, Tooth, provides a closer look at what’s inside every tooth. This dental worksheet details the function of each part of the tooth. Each tooth consists of a crown, enamel, dentin, pulp, nerves and blood vessels, roots and cementum.

The crown is the part of the tooth you can see above your gums, and the crown is covered in enamel, which is a hard substance that helps you bite and chew.

Pulp is the soft material that resides inside your tooth, and the layer between the pulp and enamel is called the dentin. Inside the pulp are nerves and blood vessels, and their job is to bring minerals and vitamins to your teeth to keep them healthy.

The root is the largest part of your tooth, and it resides underneath your gums. You’re unable to see it, but the root helps to keep your tooth planted in your mouth. The root is covered in a bone-like material called cementum.

This dental worksheet and the discussion questions provided will help kids, parents and educators to be knowledgeable about teeth, gums and to understand more about dental health.
