Floss in 5 Easy Steps | Dental Worksheet

Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth two times a day, once in the morning and once at night. But did you know that you should be flossing your teeth once a day as well? Flossing allows you to get food debris out from between your teeth to reduce your risk of cavities. First, begin by getting about eighteen inches of floss to work with, wrapping the floss around your middle finger on each hand. Then, hold the floss between your thumb and index finger, gently guiding the piece of floss between your teeth. Guide the floss around the side of your tooth in a C shape and move it gently up and down. Make sure the piece of floss is pressed against the side of your tooth as you do this motion. Repeat this process between all of your teeth so that you get all of the debris out from between your teeth with the dental floss. Also be sure to not forget your back teeth.

Floss at night when you brush your teeth so that you can get rid of the food debris that accumulates between your teeth throughout the day. You may also floss if you feel a larger piece of food stuck in your teeth. You can also use a mouth rinse to further rid your mouth of harmful bacteria. With these tips, ensure that your teeth are as healthy as possible so that you can have a happy, healthy smile!
